Newspaper, Radio & Television in Bhutan

There are a number of media houses in the country covering a wide range of topics and making transparent, timely and efficient news available for the local as well international audiences. The various newspapers published in the country are:

Kuensel (www.kuenselonline.com): With the premise ‘That the people shall be informed’, Kuensel is the most popular newspaper in the country.

Gyalchi Sarshog (www.gyalchi.com): Weekly Dzongkha (Bhutan’s national language) Newspaper in full-colour styled, it was launched on November 11, 2011, with the aim to disseminate national and international news.

The Bhutanese (www.thebhutanese.bt): With the premise, ‘Get your news at the paper that makes the biggest impact in Bhutan’, The Bhutanese is popular English Newspaper.

Bhutan Today (www.bhutantoday.bt): It is Bhutan’s first daily private newspaper. In 2012, the paper went bi-weekly and later a weekly newspaper that is published on Sunday only.

Bhutan Times (www.bhutantimes.org): It is one of the popular English Newspapers.

Bhutan Observer (www.bhutanobserver.bt): One of the popular English Newspapers.

Business Bhutan (www.busienssbhutan.bt): It is Bhutan’s 1st Financial Newspaper which aims to provide people information regarding the financial Know-how.

The Journalist (www.bhutanjournalist.com): It is a weekly newspaper in English.

Bhutan Broadcasting Service - BBS ( www.bbs.bt)  is the National TV and Radio Broadcaster of the Kingdom of Bhutan. BBS has programmes in Dzongkha, English and Nepali.

Television launched in Bhutan, in the year 2000 and various popular international and regional channels are now available for the viewers.
